How to Choose Between the Omega VRT350 and the Hurom HU-100
Vertical single auger juicers have become increasingly popular among health-conscious users who live in apartments or have small kitchens. These juicers have a smaller footprint compared with horizontal single auger models but still boast of the same features, such as slow mastication that ensures that all the nutrients of the produce you’re juicing remain intact. They are also versatile enough to be used as food processors, allowing you to make a variety of foods, ranging from baby food to frozen desserts. And in many cases they look more stylish than regular horizontal models.

When considering where to buy vertical single auger juicers, there are two companies that come to mind – Omega and Hurom. This article compares the vertical juicer offerings of the two companies to help you decide which one best suits your needs.
Omega Vert VRT350 – See Omega VRT350 Price (New and Used)
Since its founding in 1985, Omega has developed a reputation for producing some of the best juicers for home and commercial use. Their products are best known for their consumer-driven designs, reflecting the decades of experience Omega founder Robert Leo has in designing products that consumers genuinely wanted. Apart from their juicers, Omega also offers three high-quality blender series as well as Granita machines and drink dispensers.
The Omega Vert VRT350 is a masticating juicer that features an attractive, innovative design that combines functionality with attractiveness. The VRT350 is powered by a single auger 2 HP motor that processes fruits and vegetables at speeds of 80 rpm. This slower processing speed ensures that the juices retain all of the vital nutrients of the original produce. The slower processing time also allows the juices to be stored for as long as 72 hours while still retaining their freshness, as well as avoiding oxidation which could kill their essential enzymes. And it comes with a housing done in an attractive silver/black finish, with dimensions of just 178mm by 216mm by 394mm.
The VRT350 boasts of a dual-stage masticating extraction feature, which masticates the expelled pulp a second time to ensure maximum juice extraction as well as drier pulp and less waste. The VRT350 also features two ULTEM juicing screens. ULTEM is a resin produced by GE that boasts of high thermal resistance as well as increased strength. This ensures that the screen will stand up to high-speed and heavy-duty juicing without cracking. You can use either the fine or coarse juicing screen based on how much pulp you want in your juice.
In addition, the VRT350 has a blade cleaning system which automatically cleans the screen while you are juicing, improving its efficiency by ensuring the screen remains clear during use. And once you’re done, all you have to do to clean up the screen is run it under the faucet to remove any remaining debris.
Best of all for wheatgrass fans, the VRT350 can easily handle processing high quantities of wheatgrass juice. Wheatgrass has become recognized in recent years as a superfood with high nutritional value as well as promoting healing and cell regeneration. This makes the Vert a good choice not only for home use but also for fast-paced commercial establishments.
The VRT350 is covered with a ten-year warranty, one of the longest in the industry and an assurance that Omega stands by its products.
Hurom HU-100 – See Hurom HU-100 Price (New and Used)
Hurom is a company based in South Korea that has been producing juicers for close to forty years, and is one of the pioneers in producing vertical single auger juicers. Like Omega, it has also become recognized for producing some of the more efficient juicers on the market.
The HU-100 features an attractive white and lime green finish, and compact dimensions of 155mm by 212mm by 400 mm. It features Hurom’s patented Slow Squeeze System that uses the auger to gently squeeze the produce at average speeds of 80 rpm to maintain not just its original delicious flavor but also all its nutritional value. The slower speed ensures quieter operation without the noise produced by traditional juicers that run at average speeds of 5,000 rpm to 20,000 rpm. It also has a safety sensor system that ensures the unit won’t operate if it has been assembled improperly. As an added safety feature, the HU-100 has a long necked hopper that prevents injuries while using the juicer.
The HU-100 allows users to produce large amounts of juice efficiently using the Easy Clean System that keeps the juicing screen clean in use. This ensures that the juicer is operating at maximum efficiency and produces the maximum yield from the produce processed. The system also allows you to produce combo juices that are made from two types of produce, such as carrots and apples for example, since the screen is cleaned of the debris of the first food before you place the other one in the hopper. And once you’re done, or even while still juicing, you can simply clean the screen by rinsing it out with running water.
Another feature worth noting is the peeling function that lets you easily shuck corn so that you can produce corn juice. Corn is an important source of dietary fiber, which ensures proper digestion as well as a wealth of other health benefits such as improved bowel movements, lower blood cholesterol levels and even controlling your blood sugar levels.
However, unlike the VRT350, the HU-100 lacks the coarse screen that allows it to be used to create foods such as baby food and frozen sorbets. You might be able to use the fine screen to perform these functions but doing so might invalidate your warranty.
